Clorox Company Greenhouse Gas Management

Clorox Company International Greenhouse GasLiberty Environmental, Inc. (Liberty) has prepared greenhouse gas (GHG) emission inventories for The Clorox Company’s U.S. and international consumer products operations since 2005. Liberty has prepared GHG emission inventories for Clorox’s 52 manufacturing plants, distribution centers, large offices and corporate fleet.  The GHG emission inventories have included Scope 1 direct GHG emissions associated with fuel and chemical usage at the plants, Scope 2 indirect GHG emissions associated with electricity usage, and Scope 3 optional GHG emissions associated with product distribution activities.  Liberty has developed a robust GHG management tool to allow the efficient collection of annual utility consumption data, chemical usage data, production data, and product distribution data needed to develop the annual GHG emission inventories.

Liberty has assisted Clorox in participating in the U.S. EPA Climate Leader program.  Clorox and one of its subsidiaries, Burt’s Bees, both are Climate Leaders partners and have committed to voluntary GHG reduction goals.  Liberty developed the GHG Inventory Management Plan for Clorox that is required under Climate Leaders.

Liberty has also assisted Clorox in participation in the UK-based Climate Disclosure Project (CDP).  The CDP was launched in 2000 to collect and distribute high quality GHG information from the world’s largest publicly traded corporations. Annually, CDP questionnaires request information regarding GHG emissions and climate change risks, and companies are graded by CDP based on their transparency in making this information public.
